Complexity in Information Systems Development
Editors: Jerzy Gołuchowski, Małgorzata Pańkowska, Henry Linger, Chris Barry, Michael Lang, Christoph Schneider

The International Conference on Information Systems Development (ISD) is an academic conference where researchers and practitioners share their knowledge and expertise in the field of information systems development. As an Affiliated Conference of the Association for Information Systems (AIS), the ISD conference complements the international network of general IS conferences (ICIS, ECIS, AMCIS, PACIS, ACIS). The ISD conference continues the tradition started with the first Polish-Scandinavian Seminar on Current Trends in Information Systems Development Methodologies, held in Gdansk, Poland in 1988. This seminar has evolved into the International Conference on Information Systems Development.

During its history, the conference has focused on different aspects, ranging from methodological, infrastructural, or educational challenges in the ISD field to bridging the gaps between industry, academia, and society. The development of information systems has paralleled technological developments and the deployment of those technologies in all areas of society, including government, industry, community, and in the home. ISD has always promoted a close interaction between theory and practice that has set an agenda focused on the integration of people, processes, and technology within a specific context.

This publication is a selection of papers from ISD2016, the 25th ISD conference hosted by the Faculty of Informatics and Communication, University of Economics in Katowice, and held in Katowice, Poland on August 24-26, 2016. All accepted papers have been published in the AIS eLibrary at http://aisel.aisnet.org/isd2014/proceedings2016. This volume contains extended versions of the best papers, as selected by the ISD2016 Proceedings Editors. The theme of the conference was Complexity in Information Systems Development. Complexity in information systems development includes considerations of context, creativity, and cognition in the information systems development field which enable information systems to be examined as they are actually developed, implemented, and used.
